Your journey begins in the elegant heart of royal London. As we leave Victoria and travel along Buckingham Palace Road, we enter an area steeped in ceremony, tradition and national pride. Ahead lies Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of His Majesty the King. Built in 1703 and transformed into a royal palace in the 19th century, it contains an astonishing 775 rooms and serves as the administrative headquarters of the British monarchy. When the Royal Standard flag flies above the palace, the King is in residence.
Passing along Constitution Hill and into The Mall — London’s grand ceremonial boulevard — you’ll notice the impressive symmetry of this red-tarmac avenue. Designed to resemble a giant red carpet leading to the Palace, The Mall is used for state occasions, royal weddings and victory parades.
To your side stretches St James’s Park, the oldest of London’s Royal Parks. Its landscaped lake, resident pelicans and flowerbeds provide a peaceful contrast to the grandeur nearby. Keep an eye out for the Household Cavalry and royal guards in their distinctive uniforms.
Traffic permitting, we pause briefly near the Palace for photographs. This is one of the most recognisable royal buildings in the world — a symbol of continuity and tradition at the centre of modern London.
From here, we move toward Westminster, where royal power meets political power.
